Nationalhymne
Der Titel der Nationalhymne Australiens lautet Advance Australia Fair.
1977 wurde sie zur Nationalhymne erklärt. Sie wurde 1878 von Peter Dodds McCormick komponiert. In zwei Abstimmungen in den Jahren 1974 und 1977 setzte sie sich mit 43.6% gegen Waltzing Matilda (28,8%), God save the queen (18,7%) und Song of Australia (9.7%) durch. Die zweite Strophe wurde 1984 ersetzt weil sie vielen Bürgern wegen ihrer britischen Ausrichtung nicht gefiel.
